Exposed to excessive noise whilst working as a Fitter’s Mate
WE Solicitors managed to obtain compensation for Mr Gordon H from, Swadlincote, Derbyshire. Mr H was employed by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) (later known as Powergen and now known as E.On). He was employed between approximately 1973 and 1994.
Mr H was exposed to excessive noise whilst working as a Fitter’s Mate at Drakelow Power Station. Here he was working amongst the coal mills, which were extremely noisy. Hearing protection was not available until a number of years into Mr H’s employment.
WE Solicitors obtained supportive medical evidence from an Ear, Nose & Throat Consultant who confirmed that Mr H was suffering from noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus.
This was a particularly difficult case as the Defendant initially refused to offer Mr H any compensation, however WE Solicitors continued to pursue the case and were eventually able to obtain some compensation for Mr H.
