Local man awarded £6,000 for Noise Induced Hearing Loss

£6000.00 COMPENSATION FOR WORK RELATED HEARING LOSS

WE Solicitors managed to obtain £6000.00 compensation for William Shipman from West Yorkshire, who suffers with work related hearing loss. Mr. Shipman developed occupational deafness over a period of several years, working as a Labourer, Charge Hand and Manager for Ribble Packaging Limited, formerly F & D Packaging Limited.

Mr. Shipman recalls being exposed to the noise of the Corrugating Machine, used to make corrugated cardboard. There was additional noise produced by the Printing Machines, Slitting Machines and the Stitching Machines.

WE Solicitors obtained supportive medical evidence, confirming Mr. Shipman was suffering with noise induced hearing loss and were also successful in obtaining supportive witness evidence, as confirmation of the noisy environment in which Mr. Shipman worked.

The Defendants in this matter were adamant that they would defend the claim all the way to trial. Fortunately, WE Solicitors succeeded in applying the pressure, until the Defendants had no option but to make an offer to settle.

Mr. Shipman said, “My hearing has gradually been deteriorating over the years. I have difficulty following conversations, often needing words and sentences repeating, especially in background noise. I also suffer from tinnitus in both my ears, a constant buzzing sound.”

“I did not want to go to court and now I don’t have to as WE Solicitors have managed to settle my case before any trial date could be set.”

Mr. Shipman was delighted at the outcome of his case and impressed with WE Solicitors’ knowledge in the area.
