Local man awarded over £2,200 for Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Allan Dewhurst, wins settlement of over £2,200.00 through WE Solicitors.
Mr Dewhurst was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working as an electrical engineer for a period of around 6 years. Mr Dewhurst worked for Netlon Ltd, which later taken over Tensar International Ltd. The company was based in Blackburn, Lancashire. Mr Dewhurst was exposed to the noise of extrusion machines, hammering, high-speed motors and winding machines amongst other sources.
During Mr Dewhurst’s employment, he was never provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to. Mr Dewhurst now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr Dewhurst’s claim.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £1,472.00 for Mr Dewhurst, avoiding the need for the service of court proceedings.
Additionally, Mr Dewhurst has previously succeeded in a claim against British Northrop Ltd of Blackburn, Lancashire, for his noise induced hearing loss. He was employed as an electrical engineer and exposed to the noise of looms being tested, high-speed routers, milling, planing and hammering. Mr Dewhurst received £770.00 for this claim, meaning his compensation totalled £2,242.00.
Both Mr Dewhurst and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
