Mr Male wins £2,500 payout
Mr Male wins £2,500 payout after working as a blacksmith at British Coal caused him to lose some of his hearing.
This was a particularly difficult case as the defendants were arguing that Mr Male was out of time for making a claim due to the length of time he had been suffering hearing problems. A hearing in Court was due to take place in order to answer this question, however the defendants settled this matter prior to the hearing.
John Green from WE Solicitors adds “Many former employees of British Coal have not realised that they may be going deaf due to their employment, particularly in light of the past schemes set up in relation to VWF and COPD. Those that do tend to assume it only applied to those who actually worked down the mines.”
